When I turn the light on in the morning I often find a turtle or two motionless on the turtledock, presumably asleep. What about the rest of my turtles -do they sleep on the tank bottom? If so, how do they breathe while asleep?

hi turtles sleep in a wide range of ways from simply closing their eye's for a while to sleeping under water while reducing their heart rate to nearly zero under water and taking in oxygen in through the skin as they do when hibernating so don't be worried when or where they sleep, believe me after studying these animals habits & behaver its just the start of what these animals can do.... b***dy fascinating stuff if you have the time to watch, if you do just turn the t.v off and spend some time watching them I'm still learning after nearly 21yrs.... as the picture shows this turtle looks awake but is indeed asleep... regards Wayne..
