Us Ninja map turtles are very excited -we've just got a new little brother. At last Leo won#t feel outnumbered any more by his 2 bigger sisters. Brother Yogi is a different kind of map but we love him just the same and he will soon feel right at home in our tank which now has a new turtle dock - a gift from Yogi. ;D

Update Yogi has settled in well and was totally accepted by the other 3 maps who had been brought up together. When they were tiny I assumed all 3 were the same species as they all looked the same. As they grew older the 2 girls changed shape, growing rounder while the boy's shell was more oval shaped. The girls were also growing much faster and bigger than the boy with larger heads. I assumed this was just due to sex differences as female maps are much bigger. Since then I've had my maps identified by species experts online and was surprised to discover that in fact I had 3 different map species! The 2 big girls (Donna and Raphaela) are false maps, Leo my original male (their "brother") was a ouchita map and only the newest boy Yogi was in fact a Mississippi map (identified by his white eyes)!
