if anyone could spare anytime to help us here at turtle rescue with some serious pruning and cutting of bushes and general help even for an hour or two please contact me, this is serious bush cutting so we can open the small pond to house a run for the turtles of nearly 20 sq feet giving these animals the real taste of their natural habitat, we would like to thank Dan for his time who done quite a bit in his time here but Alas we have so much to do being housed on the back of a natural wood, any help from simply taking most of the cuttings to the local tip to help cutting it back to offering to loan us a chainsaw and help, we will of course supply the tea /coffee and food but Alas no payment, i struggle to cope but with time against me all the time a little help would mean so much, contact Wayne on 07951033456 if you can spare an hour or two... many thanks wayne... Hi Wayne, I have just joined turtle rescue, and have very recently taken in 2, approx. 19 month old sliders. They are currently housed indoors, but I saw the photo of your outside area, and I would dearly like to incorporate something like this into my garden, with a view to possibly adopting/re-homing other unwanted turtles/terrapins. Although not greatly experienced in their care, we are very keen, willing to learn more, and already have a large raised pond with good filtration, as we keep Koi and ornamental goldfish. I would like to perhaps make an area like you have, but separate/to one side of the existing structure, allowing it to benefit from the filtration. It would be sheltered, could even be partially covered/heated, allowing use for most, if not all year round... What type of size is yours ? What proportion land : water would you recommend ? What type of 'land', (sand...? as yours appears to be...). I would be very grateful for any info. you can give me - I intend to get in touch with my local branch - Durham is very close to me, but your photo obviously prompted me to ask yourself... I look forward to hearing from you, Jan. X.
