hi, this is the time of the year when you can catch your own fresh alive natural shrimps for your turtles to catch and eat... you just need a net even one of the pond dipping nets and a local river or boating lake and bucket with a lid... your turtles will take on a side you have never seen before as they go hunting for fresh pray when you add these alive. its something the whole family could do and it helps bring our the stunning vibrant colours in your turtles... please only take the adult shrimps and if you want to keep them for several days then you will need to airate the water of your keeping tank with an air stone... once been offered to your turtle tank they will live for upto a day as your tank will be heated but the turtles will catch them well before then and apart from saving pounds on foods it offers your loved turtles food they would take in the wild and offer you the chance to see just part of the turtles life when they have to hunt and work for their food that is for the most part just laying there... well worth spending half hour doing, we went to the local boating lake today and caught over 1500 fresh shrimps for all the turtle here and have kept some for later in the week... top tip. ;D PLEASE ANY YOUNG KEEPERS OUT THERE PLEASE ASK FOR ASSISTANCE FROM AN ADULT WHEN DOING THIS.. AND TAKE CARE. regards wayne..

Is there anywhere safe to catch shrimps in London? Thames is too big and polluted, Worried that shrimps caught in stagnant ponds in industrial areas may contain toxins, heavy metals etc Also, what do shrimp look like (colour, size, etc)

Bear in mind that catching almost any native wildlife is an offence.
