Well put Jackie. Those of us who have been keeping turtles for some time are here to offer advice based on our experience - so don't be afraid to ask, no matter how trivial it may seem. We've all been there before!
For medical problems and serious issues though you should call the turtle expert Wayne who runs the Rescue Centre(email and tel no on this site) and he will advise you whether you need a vet

Hello, you're right about all the conflicting advice, I done a huge amount of research online, went to a reptile shop asked their advice and an aquatic shop who had turtles and terrapins and I was told different things. So I listened to the man I got my Musk Turtle off and posted a pic on a forum and apparently I had got it all wrong. Well thanks to all the advice on the forum, from people who own them, I've finally got My Musk Turtles home right I was so paronoid after doing his home wrong I thought he was dying so I took him to the vet and I'm glad I did, even though there wasn't anything wrong, he gave me lots of advice and I now know what I'm doing, saying that, you learn something new all the time (still a little paronoid though hehe) Glad I can read on here what people are doing and their experiences, it helps alot. And I think your rescue is amazing, poor little things. Pet shops etc should really be concerned where the little turtles and terrapins are going and how they are going to be looked after and actually tell people that some can grow very large, cause I think that's when people don't want them anymore. Mine is only 4 grams and an inch long, not sure they should be sold until they are a little bigger and stronger, But that's just my opinion and I'm glad I have him ( I'm saying him, but not sure yet) and I can give him a nice new home.
