We have recently rehomed three female terrapins. It soon became apparent that they had very different characters. One has not been seen out of the water, the other 2 like to sunbathe on the beach, but one dashes into the water at the first sign of movement. They do not seem to be eating much, I have offered 2 types of food supplied by Wayne, different fruits and vegtables and some cooked meats. Most seem to still be there the next day, could they be eating the creepy crawlies (and newts) in the pond? Attachments:

hi junep, nice to hear from you, the terrapins will be slowing down a little if the water temps are getting low, so some foods will be left but these are at the correct weight so should do really well, this week will be hot according to the weather men so you should see a bit of life in the pond as the waters warm up, yes these will take newts / tadpole's / weed etc, but this normal and the terrapin diving for the water is also normal but with time they will get used to you and not be so bothered with the safety of the water.... keep in touch regards Wayne and all here.

Welcome to the Forum and well done for adopting some rescued turtles.
Don't worry. I have adopted several turtles and it is quite common for them not to eat at first. Some of mine did not eat much for over a week -2 weeks in one case - until they got used to their new environment.
Also as Wayne said the cooler weather might make them slow down and eat less as they prepare for hibernation.
That's a lovely pond you have -very lucky turtles!
