hi fellow turtle lovers, just a quick note to let you know that if you keep your turtles in the pond and many will be asleep or starting to slow down this time of year that it is important to both keep offering foods till they have gone down to sleep for the winter and it is very important that you keep those filters clean while this is happening and more so when they all are asleep, your care and time when its all cold outside will help them keep safe and well, just because you cant see them does not mean they don't need you... As a keen fish (koi) keeper I was always taught.. you look after the water and the water will look after the fish.. ive since learned that this really does matter and so much more enjoyment is offered by good clean and safe water.obviuosly this counts for any aquatic species.including turtles!!

Well said! And this advice doesn't just apply to ponds either. It is equally important if not more so to ensure that water quality in indoor tanks is of the highest standard as small volumes of water will have higher levels of pollutants from turtle waste and uneaten food. So keep up with those weekly tank water changes and make sure your filters are cleaned regularly so they won't get blocked up.
