There are lots of cheap pumpkins for sale in the market post Halloween. I wondered if anyone has fed pumpkin to their turtles and if so raw or cooked? My turtles refuse to eat carrots so maybe they will like pumpkin which is sweeter

I have since found out it's good for them. Pumpkin is a natural laxative. It's also high in vitamin A and fiber.
You can bake it (cut in half or, if it's small enough, bake it whole but stick a knife through it first to let out steam during cooking if it's a whole one) or boil it or grate it raw to use for box turtles and small tortoises - this is mixed with other foods as part of the diet. Remove the rind for all but the largest tortoises. Large tortoises can have larger raw chunks with the rind removed, and good-sized sulcatas, leopards, and redfoots can have raw large chunks with the rind left on
Tried feeding baked pumpkin to my turtles. Adult sliders liked it and even fought over it. Maps and African helmet refused to touch it but then my maps aren’t ken on veg and the African only eats fish and shrimp.
