Hi all
I am a relatively new and inexperienced turtle owner, I took on my pair from a friend who was no longer able to keep them. They are maps - one false and one ouachita.
I'm here to get some friendly advice and help because as I say I have little experience, so I am on a steep learning curve!

hi Noami, welcome to our very friendly not so little family, ;D please feel free to ask anything on this site all we ask is that you treat everyone with the same respect as we ask others to treat you... here on this site you have the freedom of speech as do others and nobody looks down on anyone else no matter how small or interesting the question may be, we at turtle rescue try very hard to offer experience with answers to try to help who like yourself have been thrust into trying to help these wonderful animals while offering experienced keepers another point of view, we don't know everything here but would like to think that after nearly 22 years and with every members help we can help.. but are honest enough to to tell you if we're stumped, but with a vet on hand that will answer your questions if needed we feel between us we will try to help you to our best knowledge.. welcome to turtle rescue already the u.k's top site for help and simply being friendly when you need it..... regards Wayne at turtle rescue...

Welcome to the forum, a very mied group of varied ages and backgrounds with one thing in common - our love for our shelled pets and their less fortunate abandoned relatives whom Wayne tries so hard to rescue and care for. Well done for taking on these helpless unwanted turtles/ I too was completely inexperienced and knew nothing about turtles when I adopted my first 3 two years ago. Now I have adopted 20 unwanted turtles and love them all dearly. Can't imagine lie without them. Maps are lovely turtles, good eaters and not hard to care for as long as you keep their water clean. I have 4 maps myself = 2 false map girls and 2 boys (ouchita and Mississippi)
