Hello all, We have had two little yellow bellies for 6 months now. They are together in a 3 foot tank at the moment but I am aware they will need something bigger. Just hoping for a bit of advice as to what size tank will be best for the pair. I have been told a pond in the garden would be good but two small kids so don't want to chance it. Plus I'd think its a bit cold for them outside? Any advice appreciated. John

3 ft tank will do for a while. it all depends on their final size which is influenced by sex. Female sliders can grow to10in in which case at least 4ft tank will be needed, 5ft better so you may be able to have a male turtle too if you want. If both yours are boys they will be much smaller, perhaps 6in and will be OK in a smaller tank

Thanks for that. I think we have one boy and one girl (from the cut out under the shell). I'm now thinking of building an enclosure for them. Like an indoor pond with a sandy basking area. I'm just trying to draw up some plans and check out filters, etc.

Wayne and Dan can advise on that. Dan built an amazing small outdoor pond and posted full details of its construction n this site. If you can't find it, email him (he's the site master)
