Hello all, Apologies if i ramble on a bit but i have a good few questions to ask and just googling seems to have confused me more than it has helped. I have two small yellow bellies (about 6 months old) at the moment (Mickey and Minnie). The pet shop sold me them with a 3ft tank. When we got them i realised they would need a bigger tank but just how big? We would like to keep them indoors for my two young daughters to see and play alongside. I have seen some people using unused bath tubs as part of an enclosure for them but my wife is not too keen on the idea of a bath in the room. I have a space roughly 6ftx3ft i can use to set something up and would like to maybe knock together an indoor pond. Any help or ideas gratefully received. Thanks in advance John

hi, you could get a 5ft or 6ft tank x 2ft this would be ideal if their females and more than enough if males as females will grow quite large around the size of a large dinner plate when adult or i see you have been looking at the pond build that Dan has done you too could do this if you have time and funds to build one but on a smaller size, either way we can help you all the way should you choose to go ahead with it... regards Wayne.

Hi Wayne, Thanks for the reply. I really like the idea of an enclosure similar to Dans for them. What do you think of using a bath instead of a liner? I'm thinking using a liner in the bath so it doesn't look like a bath and maybe connecting up the plug hole to make cleaning easier. I have signed up for the fundraising search bar thing and will try and get through some of the offers. It seems fair as I'll probably be here a lot over the next few months asking for advice. One question I have is what treatments should I be using for the turtles water. The shop said tap water is fine and they seem ok. They are growing with nice shells but I've read on some sites to use treatments and i want the best for them. Thanks John

hi john, i have known people to use baths and when they have finished you wouldn't know it was one, although you can get square or molded reformed water holders or pond holders from e-bay second hand at little cost and these could be fitted with a plug system that would help with the cleaning no end although i would suggest you get a plan drawn before you start this as it can leave you with pipes to think about when building. the normal filter and pump system is cheaper and more straight forward to achieve the trick is to get one that will cater for your pond size and you will need to add a suitable basking area i can send you a pic or two of our small pond that will give you an idea of what to do, i can talk you through it all if needed and please note this is not finished yet.. if you e-mail me direct as the files are to big for the site i will send them to you on wayne.rampling@sky.com regards Wayne..

hi forgot to mention you can get things called "WATERLAND TUBS" i think these could be your answer, simply go to search engine type in "waterland tubs" and look around for a good price... regards Wayne.
