hi Ben, this is a yellow bellied Cumberland cross. this is down to people breeding these in captivity and we see this quite a lot when two species have been together or bread together normally on purpose but often by mistake, they should be kept with the same conditions as a yellow bellied slider and i have included a pic of a Cumberland slider for you to see... hope this helps you.. regards Wayne at turtle rescue.. Thankyou very much, but why would her shell be a golden brown, as it looks like the Cumberland slider is a bright yellow too?

hi we find here that shell coloration can differ sometimes when cross breeding has been done so each animal can be different some being brighter than others and some will have more prominent lines etc.. based from the pics you sent this is what it seems to be as the terrapin has striking marks from Cumberland and yellow bellied hence a cross but to be fare the pic's might not do it justice... hope this helps you.. regards Wayne.

Could it be a Heiroglyphic cooter, Pseudemys concinna heiroglyphica? The head stripes on my YB x Cumberland (which was correctly identified by Wayne) are broader whereas this one has thinner head stripes. My YB crosses also have more yellowish plastrons with a few dark "spots". Shell colour does vary as lot as Wayne says - some of my YB look so different they hardly appear to be the same species

It could be anything along them lines I'm guessing if it's cross bred, thankyou very much for the info, it's a great little community on here. The only question is should her shell be pyramiding or has someone over fed, also is there any common problems, or any problems at all that come from cross breeding. Thankyou

I don't think she shows sign of pyramiding, at least not from those photos. Looks perfectly healthy to me.
If you are worried about her shell make sure she gets plenty of calcium and Vit D3 in her diet. I feed my turtles floating koi pellets with a high Vit D3 content as a health food supplement in addition to their normal food. Also make sure she has a UV lamp and if possible a chance to bask outdoors for a while when the weather finally gets warmer.
