We are currently in a flat but we are hoping to move in to a house near the end of the year, I'm currently running two large canister filters and experimenting with a moving bed filter, but I'v been looking into setting up a more heavy duty indoors pond type filtration system. Involving inline pond pumps, wet/dry filter containers, and possibly adding a tank to take the over flow just with plants in to improve the water quality. But its all on hold until we move. Also the tank is on a 1970s army table but idealy I'd prefer a old kitchen bench.

Well I hope you tell people they arn't for re-homing They will be cooked up in a small holding tank for a month when we move later in the year, How can I keep my plants alive? I was thinking maybe puting them in a drinks bottle, with water from the tank, but then will they die without a heater? The holding tank will have the matured filter and holding tank filled with water from the larger tank. So everything should be alright , I'm gona have to start weeding out some of the aquatic long green plants as the turtles munch them in half, and then I have two plants, and then they grow and get cut in half, hence the forest lol

You can keep the plants in a bucket or a plastic crate. I grow duckweed in buckets for my turtles. If it is still warm(Summer) you can keep the bucket outside in yard or balcony. Otherwise keep indoors in a warm spot near a window. Plants needs light more thnan anything else and also nutrients so use old tank water always.

Any way you can help, in any way you can would be great... more fosterers always means we can help more turtles, theres always more coming in than goes out, we often have to prioritise and reluctantly refuse the less needy cases as its hard to cope with the sheer number of calls we have to deal with but here at turtle rescue its not just about rescuing and rehoming turtles, we are also here to offer help, support and educate often misinformed owners to prevent suffering of these poor creatures ending up in our care.. also members who can help with fundraising and promotional events to spread the word about us and reach as many people as possible. RSPCA figures show that the north east has the worst record for animal cruelty this year yet again, I eventually want to grow the numbers of active members in this area to promote our organisation so that we can dispel this label at least as far as turtles and terrapins are concerned.... Jacqui xx
