Hiya everyone.. well here at the Durham branch there's two new guys in town! Two record breakers for us.. the biggest and the oldest. Snurtle, a magnificent snake neck turtle.. is now our biggest to date.. he's a big lad.. (and heavy).. about a foot long and thats only his shell.. and his neck is about 10" long and about 3" thick. He's still adjusting to his new surroundings, worrying me to death not eating but its only understandable after being with his previous owner from being little. He ate half of a pinky yesterday (yuk! lol) and a little boiled chicken so heres hoping he'll be my friend soon. And there's a sweet 20 year old gentleman called Jason, a red ear slider who came to me last night. His previous owner sadly passed away and her grandson found us on the web. After spending most of his adult life alone or in the company of humans I cant wait to see what he makes of my girls when he goes into the main tank!... lol! xx

Snake heads are awesome =wish I had room for one! I handled Wayne's for a video shooting session when he had them last year. You are right aBout them being heavy but they are quite docile, even when being handled by strangers. Watch out for those strong sharp claws though! I'm glad the "orphaned" RES found a good home with you. At 20 he is barely middle aged and could live for another 20 years or more. That's the problem with turtles and tortoises -they may outlive their owner if well cared for, as I am sure yours will be.
