I have just re homed a red eared slider and a yellow bellied slider from Jackie in Sunderland. I have had them a week now and can now say they have settled in great. I have never had turtles before and was rather stressed the first few days after i got them as they would not eat and were hiding all the time. They are feeding well now and love stretching and basking under the light. A huge THANK YOU to Jackie for being so patient with me after the 20,000000 texts i sent her in those first few days Any advise and hints would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Hiya Jayne.. your welcome.. you are your mum are a breath of fresh air to deal with and I wish I had a thousand more like you both. You have both gone to considerable lengths to offer 'pebbles and bam bam' a fabulous loving new home where they are truly loved and are already two new members of the family. I'm sure your mam won't mind me telling everybody that she felt she couldn't hoover the other day because bam bam was basking and she didnt want to disturb him! lol! They want for nothing.. aswell as offering them the full range of turtle rescue foods they have a fab new 4ft reptile one turtle tank and all the accessories.. although I dont think the white gravel will stay as clean for long.. lol xx

Lucky turtles!Sounds like they found the perfect home. Just make sure that the gravel is too big for them to swalow as turtles have a habit of swallowing gravel which can become impacted in their intestines and cause serious health problems. You can use pebbles instead of gravel to prevent this. All my tanks have bare bottoms for safety which are also easier to keep clean.
