Hi everyone from the Tyne Tees branch based in Durham..., I'm putting out an urgent appeal for loving foster or permanent homes for a massive influx of turtles we will recieve after the weekend. As you all may or may not know.. as with all adoptions here at turtle rescue, the turtles remain the property of T.R.. and if you can no longer look after them the keeper must return them to us. Its with my greatest regret that one of our greatest supporters Ritchie has just been told the devastating news that he and his wife are to have their working hours cut which is the equivalent to one of them loosing they jobs as they work at the same place and as things are so tight he is having to close down his massive tanks for the forseeable future. Having been into aquatics since a boy this is know mean feet as his downstairs is wall to wall of the most amazing and beautiful aquariums I have ever seen, like a turtle paradise, resulting in 2 dozen turtles coming into me. As I am already overflowing, I am fastly losing my house to turtles and tanks, I cannot sustain the running of anymore tanks than I have already got and I must find new homes fast! ... If you can help, by adding to your loved ones, even it is just temporarily, like having a little lodger... I would greatly appreciate it... All of us at T.R would like to wish Ritchie and his family all the best for the future and pray all will be well soon, god bless xxx

That#s a sad story but unfortunately becoming increasingly common these days. So many people are having to give up their pets for financial reasons when they lose their jobs and have to move into small bedsits with no pets allowed. Can you list the species, sex and size of the ones that need new homes? As a last resort, I may be able to take a few if they are compatible with my current turtle collection (no room for any more tanks). We'll have to figure out how to get them to London though.

Hi Turtlegirl... the majority of them are yellow bellies of various sizes, from young ones to magnificent adults. Unfortunately with an increasing number of sickly patients that have arrived recently we do not have the funds to transfer them anywhere other than locally. Thank you so much for your kind offer though but we are restricted by geography. The next £150 we save up must go on a liitle girl who is desparate for surgery to remove absesses in her ears triggered by a vitamin A defienc.. at best we can only keep her comfortable at the moment so they dont get any worse and build her up. x
