Hi, Sorry for my first post to be a begging letter but does anyone have a large tank, 4' or bigger that they no longer want, I was just presented with a 9" slider, I either had her or she went in the nearest pond, I was promised a 4' tank from a friend but he has just decided to keep it. She is in a 125L rub tub at the moment but I really need a tank. Has anyone got one that I can pay to be couriered to North Wales please. I not I'll have to re-home her again. Many thanks and kindest regards Gary

Well done for adopting this poor turtle and saving its life. It would certainly have died outside in this cold weather.Bid sliders make lovely tame interactive pets - my big girls are among my favourites.
Why do you need a tank? If it is just for aesthetic reasons, you can try surrounding it with a wall made of wood, painted to fit in with your decor. Plastic crates make excellent turtle tanks and I use large plastic tubs for all my big sliders as a small indoor pond. Apart from retaining heat they are also less stressful for turtles as they can't see out and keep trying to escape. This is especially important for newly acquired turtles.
You can keep her in the tub till you find a large tank. Lots of bargains to be found on Ebay, Gumtree, Freecycle, Craig's List

Craig's List is another international "noticeboard" website like Gumtree but not as popular in UK though you can sometimes find bargains on it.
For help in creating a small pond, see Dan's account of the pond he built for his turtles in General section. You will need a filter, either external canister filter or high flow internal filter. Best value one which I use for my turtles gives a powerful 1200l/hr flow and costs about £20
