In memory of Demon... Turtle Rescue got a phone call from Luke Holland & his turtles had caught a bacterial infection. Unfortunately one was dead as in pictures and not so much to see but deadly all the same, the following picture was the one that was saved after an operation by a vet. The Turtle is doing well. This is a warning to all keepers/owners to check their turtles over all the time and to treat the tank before its too late, even the cleanest of tanks can get this.... This was caused by a bacterial infection you should look out for any small & not so small lumps or signs of infection or soreness, these animals don't show signs till its well established but it can be prevented by treating your water regularly with methylene blue or similar and keep inspecting your turtles. Kind Regards Dan Marsh Attachments:

Dear Stephii I am really sorry to hear about your loss. I am sure Demon had a happy life with you. I hope your other turtle recovers soon. Thank you for bringing this to everyone's attention. I wsn't aware of this serious health problem. I have treated my tanks with methylene blue and will inspect all my turtles tomorrow.

That is really worrying I havent been putting anything into my tank, but after seeing this I think I need to know a bit more! What should I be doing after a water change? What do I need to buy to ensue my turtles get the best care possible? Very sad news about Demon, I'm really sorry for your loss

hi soo.... we tend to use methylene blue here at turtle rescue as we found after using it for the past 20yrs it offers great protection from many many bacterial infections although not all.. we add enough to the water to turn it a very pale blue color with the dropper that comes with every bottle... WARNING, PLEASE ONLY OPEN THIS OVER THE TANK BECAUSE IF SPILT ON YOUR FLOORING / CARPET IT WILL STAIN.. we treat our tanks with every water change or total tank clean to keep these bugs at bay.. if you need any further info please call me soo...
regards wayne...
