Hi all, New to this Forum so ill introduce myself. I live n Kent with my partner and our selection of animals. We have 6 Turtles, 2 large that live in an outdoor heated pond for the summer, and 4 small turtles that live in a tank indoors. My plan this year is to install a rigid pond in my conservatory and make it a permanent home for them all year round. I aim to landscape with rocks and natural planting with heating filtration and suitable lighting. Will post pictures as it progresses. Bit stuck at the moment as I have broken my arm.

Well had to take one of my small guys to vets today. Swollen cheeks which turned out to be abscesses. Poor little guy only weighed 30g. So need sedation which was dodgy due to his size. He however is now home after the vet did a fantastic job in removing both abscesses. Follow up jabs every 3 days, and wound cleaning twice a day. Expensive to say the least, but if we keep such pets, we must expect to give them the best when things go wrong.

Sadly abcesses are fairly common in turtle and tortoises. My little tortoise had them but made a full recovery from her operation with no scarring. I am sure yours will too
