Hi Came across this forum through Rescue Centre, I'm fairly new to turtles but have ended up with a large collection -10 in 7 months! It all started in Feb during the Big Freeze when on impulse I adopted 3 unwanted adults (species unknown, possibly some kind of maps) that were going to be dumped in a canal. :oHad nowhere to keep them and knew nothing about turtles but figured I might be able to keep them alive till I could find a reptile rescue to rehome them. Needless to say I fell in love with them before I could find one and kept them all - named them the Three Muskateers. They were then joined by Prince(ss) sold to his original owner, who couldn't keep him as she was off to uni ,as a female red ear but turned out to be a male false map! Then I adopted Sheldon, a male yellow belly someone found in the park and 3 young Mississippi maps (their tank broke and former owner didn't want to buy another). My latest are two really cute bright green yellow belly hatchlings, only 3 weeks old when I took them in but had already had 2 previous owners in their short life. I've learnt a lot in the past few months, largely from Wayne at Turtle Rescue, and I am please to say all my little, and not so little, ones are doing well.
